About us- Why We Are Different, What to Expect

Dr. Akin is the only Active Release Techniques (A.R.T) provider in the central valley.  Active release is a soft tissue treatment that works with the muscles, nerves, ligaments and tendons. It is used in many professional sports and triathlons as well as being highly utilized in the Olympics. A.R.T also used to treat anyone from law enforcement officers, to teachers for their conditions. Not only does it work extremely well for athletes, but individuals have gotten permanent and quick results with shoulder issues, carpal tunnel, neck pain, plantar fasciitis, sciatica and many other conditions.

At Valley Chiropractic Care we set ourselves apart by adjusting our patients as little as possible. When our patients are holding their corrections and do not need to be adjusted only then have we achieved our major objective. One must question their care if they have to be continuously adjusted. We love to tell our patients "Holding your corrections is healing." We do not want to see you three times a week for the rest of your life! Our goal is to get the patient fixed as quickly as possible and show them how to avoid us for as long as possible.

Finally, we take a "no nonsense" approach to care. If we determine your complaint is something that can be helped with Chiropractic or Active Release Techniques we establish a "trial period" this is usually 5-6 visits and at the end of that time we re-evaluate the patient. If the patient is improving we set up an individualized plan to help you feeling better as quickly as possible. This can consist of at home exercises, stretching, lifestyle modifications and most importantly what you can do do prevent your complaint from coming back!

If we are not noticing an improvement we will not waste the patients time or ours and will refer to another source. In many cases  some relief is experienced within the first visit.

Every case is different and everyone is not a candidate for Chiropractic care. During the first visit we will spend time examining and treating the patient. We take a hands on personalized approach assessing the spine and muscles and treating the appropriate areas. Your health should not have a cookie cutter approach.

Follow up visits can take anywhere from 15  minutes to 30 minutes.
